Super Bowl Sunday

Chandra and the babies are visiting friends on Skype :)

Makia, Maura, Mica, Macy, Milano & Malin

Super Bowl Sunday...and Lisa and I are in our Cardinals colors and white sleeves! Too bad the game didn't end they way we wanted, but it was a good game and some of the commercials were pretty funny.

Update

The puppies are all over 2.5 lbs now and they are starting to do the little puppy crawl around the pool. Their eyes have started to open! It's so great just sitting and watching them, I could really do it all day.

Makia II

Makia II is named after CCI breeder Makia who is now retired after having 4 litters for CCI. Above is a picture of Makia and a picture of Makia II, how cool :)

New CCI videos

10 days old

New collars

The puppies have their collars on now. It's much easier to tell them apart now instead of having to check for their paint color. Each puppy is given a color for their birth order, it goes: red, blue, purple, neon pink, brown, light pink, etc.

The puppies are 10 days old and their eyes should start opening tomorrow!

Video update

I love taking pictures and videos of the puppies, so there will be a lot more updates :) I just weighed all the puppies and they are all gaining weight, most are over 2 lbs now. There eyes could start to open tomorrow, I will check in the morning. There ears start to open around 21 days old. Right now they can't see or hear, but it's amazing how they can find each other and their mom. This is a very nice litter :)

Omeeka x Alijah's litter turns in to CCI

Here's a picture of the B puppies before they start their adventure to become service dogs.

Amya pictures

Here are some pictures of Amya from her puppy raiser. Chandra is very proud, she is such a beautiful girl! We hope she does well in college starting next month, or whatever she chooses. There is also a picture of Amya in the Rose Parade! What a great way to represent CCI!!

and the litter is....

"M"

This is Chandra's second M litter in a row, so out of 5 litters she had: O, R, A, M, M. Names will be submitted to CCI this week and then we will get tenative names, they will not be final until the puppies turn in to CCI, but it is still fun having them!

Chandra's 5th litter

Chandra and Lawrence's litter was born today starting around 5:30 am. There are 6 puppies, 5F/1M, 4B/2Y and the male is black.

X-Ray results

Yesterday Chandra had her x-ray to determine how many puppies we should be expecting, and the number is 7! That's a nice sized litter, can't wait to see how many of the puppies will be black or yellow. 3 more days until her due date!

Getting the puppy room ready

I just got home from Grand Cayman and it's a little shocking in this cold weather! Chandra has been with Peggy for a week and she'll stay with her when she whelps her puppies and for the first week since I'll be in Orlando. I should be in Sacramento for her whelp, so that will be exciting! She's due on the 18th and she's always been on time. Today I'm getting the puppy room ready, it's actually going to be in my room this time since we added marble floors to my room it makes it easier with the puppies. Today I'm cleaning it all, which was needed ;) Then I'm going to get some scrap linoleum to protect the floor. We'll be moving in Chandra's box, even though she's not having her puppies here, it's a nice sized box and the puppies can stay in it until they are a little over 3 weeks old. Chandra's x-ray is on the 14th and we'll be able to see how many puppies she is having then. Yay for puppies!!

Amya and the Rose Parade!

We are very proud of Amya!

Here's a note from her puppy raiser, "Amya will be with the Lion’s Club Float walking next to it. The theme is Miracle in the Making – the Lion’s support CCI & other Assistance Dog organizations"

Amya walked next to the float and in front of the USC band!

Nice job USC & Pac-10!!

HAPPY 2009!!

2008 was a great year! Chandra would like to wish all her puppies, their puppy raisers, graduates and breeder caretakers a wonderful New Year!!

CCI Hearing Dog (HD) video

Here's a video on Hearing Dogs, just one type of service dogs CCI provides:

One of my favorite CCI videos

This video is awesome!

Ultrasound results!

Chandra's ultrasound results are in and she is pregnant! We saw puppies on the ultrasound, but it is too soon to even have a guess as to how many she will have. Dr. Ruth did guess that she'll have about 8 puppies, which is her normal amount.

In other news OMSI is being bred to Ona (Hardin x Pala), this will be his 2nd Golden litter and Ona's 1st litter.

Realxing

Chandra has been hanging out a lot with us and just resting before the puppies get here. This weekend we went over to our friends house to make Christmas cookies for kids and Chandra felt right at home :)

Omeeka's B litter

Omeeka's "B" litter arrived today! There are 5 boys and 4 girls. Sounds like Omeeka's pre-whelp behavior was just like her moms, a lot of nesting about 12 hours before puppies arrive. It's so nice having definite signs of when puppies should be arriving :)

Here's the "B" litter names:
Bo II, Bito, Brett II, Becca II,
Brooke II, Blake III, Bayou II, Blossom, and Bonnie IV.

Breeder boy OMSI III update

OMSI has been a busy boy, he has sired 4 litters with more on the way. So far OMSI has:

"N" x Brynna- 7 puppies - GLD
"Y" x Ember III - 7 puppies - LGX
"E" x Pearla - 11 puppies - LGX
"D" x Sashi - 9 puppies- LGX

Omeeka update

Omeeka & Chandra

Chandra's puppy Omeeka is due with her first litter on 12/5..the x-ray results came in and little Omeeka is having 10 puppies!!

Omeeka was my 5th puppy to raise, but with a change in my schedule she was definitely a GRC raised dog with help from so many great people and finished by Jill and Cindy!

Carly is taking on this litter... good luck & have fun!! :)

Palm Springs update

Chandra is enjoying the sun in Palm Springs! It's been so nice here. Today we went on a long walk, then she got to go swimming and then another walk to let her coat dry out. She loves laying in the sun, something she hasn't been able to do in Sacramento. Tomorrow we'll be driving home after dinner, it's a long trip..7 hours! She's such a great road trip dog, she just sleeps the entire time.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

Chandra's coming home for the Holiday's :)

Chandra is getting a ride home tomorrow just in time for our Thanksgiving break trip to Palm Springs! I'm excited to have her back..it's been a long time without her around. She had her dates with Lawrence and it sounds like everything went well. Her ultrasound is on December 18th, I haven't heard for sure, but I'm guessing that means she'll be due around January 20th. I'll send an update from Palm Springs tomorrow night with pictures

grandpups

I'm watching Akeelah for a few days and it's so much fun having grandpups over! Akeelah reminds me so much of Chandra in looks and actions. She's such a good girl! We're at school now, lucky girl gets to sleep..I wish I could ;)

Monarchs brick

I sent in the checks today for Monarch, thank you all for your donations in memory of Monarch. There was $305 donated to CCI in Monarchs name.

The brick will read:

Chandra's date

Chandra is being bred to Lawrence II (Baumann x Keena) a black lab for her 5th and final litter!!

Missing Chandra

I'm sitting at home watching the election coverage and studying for a midterm tomorrow. It's sad without Chandra here with me, I just went to the kitchen to get water and whenever our ice machine goes off Chandra comes running for a treat! I missed her being there, but I know she'll be back home soon ready to take on her job for the last time!!

Litter # 5 Coming Soon!!!

Chandra is being bred for her 5th and final litter! Puppies should be born around the middle of January and going out to puppy raisers around the middle of March. I haven't heard yet who Chandra will be bred to, but I'll be sure to update the blog when I find out!

In other news Omeeka from Chandra's first litter was confirmed pregnant yesterday with at least 5 puppies! Puppies are due on December 5th and they are Golden Retrievers, the dad is Alijah (Kittredge x Slyvi).

Happy Halloween

Chandra's puppy Asjha dressed up for Halloween as her namesake, Asjha Jones from the Connecticut Sun! She also enjoyed a Frosty Paw treat, it's ice cream for dogs!

Akeelah's day at school

Akeelah went with me to school, she was very good :) Nothing at school bothered her and she slept during class.

Video clips

Here's a little video collection of clips from Chandra's 4 litters :)

Chandra's advanced commands

In Memory of Monarch

It is with great sadness that I write and tell you about the passing of Chandra and Randy's puppy Monarch. It was a few months ago that Monarch was diagnosed with liver shunts, she had surgery on September 20th to correct her liver, but the surgery did not improve her health and on October 20th Monarch was relieved of her pain.

Ontaro update

Looks like Ontaro is enjoying himself as a wonderful pet :)

Omeeka update

Chandra's puppy Omeeka is being bred for her 1st litter! Puppies should be here in about 2 months.

Please pray for Monarch

Monarch (Chandra & Randy's puppy) had surgery today to correct her liver shunts, please keep her and her puppy raisers in your prayers. Monarch is 4 months and only 17lbs, hopefully after the surgery she'll be able to grow into a happy, healthy puppy.

A little basketball team ;)

With the Monarchs in San Antonio for the first round of the playoffs we have a little basketball team here at home ;)
At point we have Louis V..Guard Bruiser..Forward Sanaa..Power Forward Chandra..and at Center Magic.

All the puppies say "good luck mom!!! Beat the Stars!!"

Hiltie

Hiltie's family sent an update and picture. She looks great and so happy! Hiltie was my 2nd puppy for CCI and what a great dog!! She will be 6 years old this November! Wow, that's hard to believe!! Hiltie has been working with her boy since February 2005. Hiltie and Chandra are half siblings, they have the same dad OMSI (not to be confused with Chandra's puppy OMSI III who is also a breeder for CCI). Enjoy the picture!

Chandra's playtime

Chandra loves to play and she normally does a play pounce that you can see in the videos. We've been watching our friends 2 shorkies (they're brothers born June 11th). The puppies are Louis V and Bruiser and they're so cute! We also have Sanaa here with us, it's been a house full, but they've been having fun! Chandra is so good with puppies :)
