Happy 7th Birthday!!!

Happy 7th birthday to Shawn!!! She has been enjoying the great weather that we've been having. She has been going with me to CSD's softball games and we've been enjoying walks in the sun :)

Chandra's legacy...

I've been thinking about how much of an impact Shawn has had on CCI. Over her breeding career she had 36 puppies. 5 puppies were chosen as breeders. 1 is a Skilled Companion (Oasis II). 1 is a Successor Service Dog (Maura) and 3 are Facility Dogs (Omari II, Ayla & Macy III) with one still in AT and hopefully graduating in May (Milano).

Rainy day pictures

The rain has been intense in Sacramento. With a break in the weather Shawn and I went outside to take some pictures. Her 7th birthday is coming up and she is doing great!

A Thanksgiving update!

We spent Thanksgiving in Palm Springs and it was so nice! The weather was perfect and everyone there is so dog friendly. Shawn got to go to our favorite art gallery, CODA. She was also a great road trip partner :)

Grand-puppy update: Lacinda

Here's an update from Lacinda's (Paxton III x McKenzie IV)  puppy raiser!

"We took our new puppy Lacinda (McKenzie x Paxton) to graduation this past week. Three different people that I had never met before, including one of the CCI trainers, stopped and said "is that a Chandra puppy?" Nope, but we proudly told them she is a grandpuppy!"

November graduation success!!

I am happy to report that Chandra's puppy Maura from her last litter with Lawrence II has graduated as a Successor Service Dog (SSD) in the NC region. Maura was the brown collar puppy and Milano's sister.

It was also a big weekend for grandpuppies!!

Family photos

Wanted to share some family photos for those who are new to Chandra's blog.

Chandra was born on 3-30-04 to GDB Natalie and CCI's OMSI. Chandra was born at Guide Dogs for the Blind and was the only puppy to come over to CCI, her Guide Dog name was Parma and she was one of 9 puppies. Many of her siblings went on to be Guide Dogs. Day at the River

Shawn and Jazz had a great time at the river!! It was the first time Jazz went swimming and she loved it, Shawn is a pro and showed her how it's done :)

Graduation update

Last week was a great week for Shawn's puppies and grand-puppies. Her last litter for CCI turned in, Milano and Makia II are back at NW. Macy III is in SW and Maura and Mica are in their 2nd semester in NC.

OMSI III had puppies turn in and 2 graduates!!!

Navarro (x Brynna) and Yaston (x Ember III) both graduated as a Skilled Companions! Congrats to everyone involved!

California State Fair

Today CCI had a booth at the State Fair. Milano and Shawn hung out and did what they do best, sleep and let people pet them! :) It was a great day informing the public about CCI dogs and the great things that they can do. Shawn showed some of her advanced commands, a crowd favorite was when she picked up my keys for me. It was really nice for Shawn to get to go out to this event, I know she liked getting out of the house! Milano was awesome, I think she's going to do very well in advanced training :)

More grand-puppies

Shawn's puppies Rhianna (Terrell x Chandra) and McKenzie II (Randy IV x Chandra) both have litters of puppies right now. Looks like Rhianna's litter just went out to puppy raisers and McKenzie's are about 2 weeks old now.

Makia II update

I recieved an email from Makia's puppy raiser, Makia is Milano's sister. Sounds like she is doing well :) Here are some pictures of her:

CCI breeder Kaelen is spending the weekend with us. He's been fun to
have around! Such a sweet boy, he loves playing fetch and hanging out.
Kaelen was bred to Akeelah for her 1st litter, the "T's" that just went
out to puppy raisers.

A day at the park

Shawn had a lot of fun playing at the park today! I went rollerblading
and the dogs ran along with me, Shawn made it 2 laps around the park
before getting tired. Shawn's favorite activity is playing on the slide
at the park, she thinks it's the best! The dogs also had fun running in
the sand and practicing their commands!

river. It was a nice day out and getting the dogs out of the house while
it's not raining is always nice.
